Beth and I caught the bus to Chiangrai from Chiangrmai this morning. We got up earley and managed to get on an earlier bus than we'd planned. The journey started off with a bit of drama though. The girl in front of me collapsed falling off of her seat and hitting her head on the opposite side of the bus, she then had a fit! I think she was epileptic but it was pretty scary! Most people just got out of their seats to watch but the gut next to me knew exactly how to help her out luckily! We had a trip to the local hospital on the way but I think the girl was ok, just a little shaken up.
We were expecting the journey to take around 4 hours but only took 2 in the end so we had plenty of time to explore the city in a day. There wasn't oo much to see but we;re glad we came up here! We had a good meal, Burmese curry, at the end of the day so it made the trip worthwhile!
We're off to begin our crossing to Luang Prabang in Laos tomorrow, consisting of a 3 hour bus hjourney followed by 2 days on a slow boat! Hmm, sounds like a very slow boat!
