We caught yet another boat from Langkawi to Penang in Malaysia. We thought the boat had broken down again as we just randomly stopped in the middle of the sea seemingly for no reason, but then it carried on again! Weird!

We were staying in a 3 person room again and went out in the evening to get some food from a local food court. There was loads of food to choose from and we all wanted to try the local food (although I think I ended up with a biryani!). We were having a nice evening until this weird old Australian guy came up to us. He was very pleasant at the beginning, he bought us a drink and said his Malaysian mate wanted to meet some people so he came over too. His Malaysian mate was pleasant enough but the Australian guy turned really weird and really angry, slagging off every single nationality he could think of and saying princess Diana was a crack w**re! Cat hel;d her own against him and wasn't having any of his mouthing off! It did put a bit of a dampener on the night though as we thought the locals were really lovely and some Australian guy ruins the atmosphere!

There wasn't a huge amount to do in Penang so we just had a walk round the city. It was quite nice to see some culture after all of the beaches we'd been to. We didn't go for Malaysian food in the evening, instead we opted for a steakhouse! It was actually really good steak and the place was dressed up as a ship with all the employees dressed in uniforms! It was funny! And as we were the only ones in there they were a bit too attentive, coming over every 30 seconds to check if we'd finished (it takes me a lot longer than 30 seconds to finish a meal!!!!). We just had 2 nights in Penang and then moved on again!
