Choppers Travels
Right.. I've got 10 mins to update the site.. Sorry my India journal was a bit rubbish, i'll try to update it at some point to let you know what we've been up to (needless to say it was good, Goa was nice but i was ill which was rubbis.. i'll update it at some point, anyway.....). Vietnam is great, a massive culture shock compared to India.. it's so western (and we love it), when we arrived at the airport i was expecting to see the army, little huts and all sorts of strange things (apocolypse now without the bombs) but it was great.. easy to get the bags, easy to find the bus (there was a tourist info place that actually gave us tourist info and didn't try to flog us anything). Cost 2$ each to get into hanoi (about 45 mins), the bus was airconditioned (better than oxford cabs into rusholme) and we shared it with 10 other people (some western, some vietnamese). The jouney was great and not at all scary, the roads are nice.
Hanoi is really clean and the people are great, the food is nice (and cheap) and it's full of backpackers, we've spoken to so many people (even changed our tour now and we're going to Laos for a month too). Our room is about 4 quid a night (we;ve got cable tv so spend a lot of time in front of it, we've even got hot water).
We've just booked a few trips, a four day to Sapa (trecking, Devlin doesn;t have the shoes for it but she refuses to change them because they match her jeans), a 2 day to ha long bay (kayacking), a one day trip to the perfumed pagoda (no idea?) and an open bus down to saigon, this stops at loads of places, Hue (picturesque), Hoi an(city), Nha trang (cheap scuba), Dalat (romantic, we spent valentines in Delhi so i need to make up), Mui ne (tranquil beach) and Saigon (named after a musical).
Well that's the plan, i'll let you know how it goes. Keep in touch.
Matt and NIc
