Choppers Travels
Hello Folks, arrived in Phnom Phenn on the 17th and arrived by traveling on boat down the Mekong delta, it was pretty cool (but took a long time), i felt like i should have been listening to the soundtrack from Apocalypse now.
We actually travelled up from Saigon (or near there) by bus, this was so bizare as instead of the Air conditioned coach promised in the brochure we were put on the local bus, luckily we all had a seat to ourselves but it was still an experience. At on point the bus broke down and we had to get out to push it to get it started again.
Phnom Phenn is a pretty big place (full of boulevards etc because of the french influence). We have actually done sight seeing, wen't round s-21 (interogation camp that used to be a school) and the killing fields. Both of these places were just mind boggling, you can't help but come away and feel utterly baffled as to why all these people were killed, even the explinations don't make sense.
Anyway after that we went to a market (pretty rubbish but we got some good food there so that was ok), then off to a pagoda (don't know why i went, i don't really like pagodas). Then home, we should be off to siem riep (or shianouk ville) tomorrow, we need to decide how we are getting to bangkok before we set off anywhere (either boat inthe south of Cambodia or bus in the north).
One final thing, our hotel (the okay guesthose) does chips like a chippy back home, i love em.
adios
matt
