We're in Vegas baby!! We were ecstatic after checking in to our hotel (the Gold Coast) to be greeted by a king size bed with tonnes of pillows and a frigging bath tub...felt like such a treat after a couple of weeks in hostels with shared bathrooms. The crazy thing is that it is costing us less to stay here than in a hostel as hotel rooms in Vegas are so cheap.
We arrived late last night, after flying cattle class with Spirit Airlines and jumping on a couple of buses from the airport. The weather in Chicago was starting to turn and rain clouds were gathering (and frequently bursting, rather violently, before regathering) so it felt like we were leaving at the right time.
We spent the last couple of days in Chicago just chilling, doing laundry and eating lots of unhealthy food. The night before we left we went on a bar crawl with people from our hostel and it took us lots of Chicago-style pizza (v deep pan, almost like a pie) before we started to feel human again. We met some great people in Chicago - here's to the guys from Finland - and it's definitely somewhere we both want to return to in the future.
At the moment we are in the lobby of the Bellagio, which is amazingly beautiful with lots of flowers and random sculptures dotted around. We haven't gambled yet but I used their restroom which is the poshest relief I'm likely to have for a while. Heading down the strip now to soak things up and plot out the next few days whilst trying not to melt...
