Well the tango show was something of an experience!
I figured that by booking through the hostel loads of people from where i am staying would be going and it would be a kind of group thing. Nope! I sat in the hostel reception for an hour before the transport arrived - getting into a worse and worse mood because I was so bored. When I finally got on the minibus I not only realised that I was the only person from my hostel but also that the other people on the bus were late 50s and dressed for a night at the opera house. I naturally was wearing a denim skirt and my purple cardigan with my newly un-white trainers.
We arrived in time to see the last 30 seconds of the tango lesson which was one of the reasons I booked it in the first place. Still got given a certificate though! If only uni had been that easy!
Then we were taken into the room with the stage and the tables for dinner. I was served a three course meal on a one person table. So sad! Think it was better than being the only English speaking person at a table with the people I got the coach with though!
Dinner was nice though. Argentinia emphanadas (sort of cornish pasties) followed by steak (yep two in a day - yesterday i single handedly brought global warming up a degree through the amount of methane emitted by the cows i ate. Was gooood though!) then scottish bonbon. mmm.
I felt so uncomfortable at this point that when I realised that the drinks were free I acted like a true Brit and made like a drink and tried to get drunk.
Luckily after I had had two glasses of wine a lady sat on the next table also alone so we got talking. And she is going to email me a contact for someone in environmental consultancy based in Holland! Crazy night.
The actual show was really good though. The dancing was great and there was some great singing. Naturally with ´Don´t cry for me Argentina´ being sung at one point.
Bizarre!
