Today is the day we depart the Howqua Valley and head north to Milawa region. The night was reasonably cool so we wake refreshed and dive straight in to pack up and find ourselves pulling out of the camp by 8.30am. We decide to head directly to Milawa and see if we can set up camp again before the day heats up as the forecast is for 38 degrees!
We roll into Milawa and luckily can set up camp under the shade of some large trees. Very different landscape from our last few nights and we appreciate the breeze and lack of flies!
Once camp was set up we decided to venture a further half hour up the road to the Milawa whiskey & chocolate factory. When we arrived we enquirer about the tour & tasting and noting both that we were hungry for lunch and the next tour was 2.30pm we sit down to delicious relaxing lunch.
After lunch we had a look in the chocolate store and decide to make our own chocolate freckle. Normally an activity for the kids we had a blast. While our chocolates chilled in the fridge our tour commenced.
The tour was so worthwhile and seeing a great family company starting off and seeing the potential this place has is truly an experience. I would highly recommend the visit to all regardless if you are a whisky lover.
After the tour we had our tasting and chatted with the owner who holds the tastings. Learning so much and their journey past and their vision in the future we are seriously considering investing in a barrel or two.
We return to camp to kick back and enjoy some music, nibbles , a few more drinks and great company.
