June 4th (Thursday) - Day 95 - Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie
Our bus was not until the afternoon so we went for a long walk around Coffs Harbour. We followed the creek towards the town and came across a large public garden. We spent a good few hours looking around. They had board walks over the creek so we got to see mud crabs. Sarah kept making me laugh for no reason at all which would have got me some odd looks if anyone else had been there. We seemed to have the place to ourselves. The walk brought us out in town so we had a good look around the shops before heading back to collect our bags. We got on the bus to the next place and it was dark when we arrived so we could not really head out to see anything. Instead we were told by some people in the court yard it was pizza night so we spent the evening with them chatting about some really random things. The highlight was lesbian camels (you had to be there!). It was quite a mix of people. Mainly us pome's and an old Aussy fella. He was really funny but did not like people laughing at him. It was such a strange (but good) night.
June 5th (Friday) - Day 96 - Port Macquarie and Tea Gardens
We hired bikes from the hostel as we only had a few hours to see the place. The bikes were older than me I am sure of it. Mine you had to pedal backwards to apply the brakes, which did not seem to want to work most the time! Good job it had no gears and I could not get up any speed on it lol. We followed the coast around the bay, saw some huge pelicans being fed and then at the other end of the park we found a harbour wall made of stone. Each stone has been painted by someone over the years. Some were "Dave was ere" but most were really good and the art was amazing. We continued around the coast and saw loads of really nice beaches. Still no whales! We headed back into town for lunch and had a look around the shops. Then at 3 we went to the Koala hospital. This is where they look after sick koala's and release them again if they can. This guy gave us a bit of a tour and told us what the place does. Some of them were in for life because they were to ill to be let go. But they release loads each year. Once the tour was over we headed back to the hostel to grab our bags. We then got on the bus to head for tea gardens. We were staying with a friend of Sarah's family. She picked us up and took us to her place. She also had a friend staying from New Zealand. We all had a nice long chat over dinner.
