Namibia is WITHOUT a DOUBT my favourite country in Africa- awesome!!! (NEAL). we entered from Botswana and went to Windhoek- the capital and it was obvious that was, in places, a much more developed than anywhwere else we have been to. the country is full of germans, but this needs to be overlooked! in windhoek we went to 'Joe's Beer House' and ate game kebabs (turn away now any vegetarians out there!)- it had chicken, zebra, ostrich, crocodile and Kudu meat- Spectacular!!

We left windhoek for Spitzkoppe one of Namibia's highest peaks and had a bush camp in the desert and saw some cave paintings which although not spectacular are reportedly 1,000,000 years old!!!! the mountain is beautiful, a bit like what we imagine Ayer's Rock must look like.

We then hit Etoahs Park- one of the most famous parks in africa. It was very beautifulbut bereft of animals, something to do with the recent rains. the campsite we atyed on had a watering hole next to it which was particularly stunning, but still nothing came!!

Then down the Shipwreck Coast, stopping briefly at Cape Cross seal colony to Swakopmund. another fairly well developed city. We stayed in a hostel- a bed!!! the first for about six weeks!! In Swakop we went extreme Quad Biking in the dunes which was awesome. And the following day went sand boarding (see the pics) which again was brillaint, although both very much amateurs and caroline struggled as little with the vertigo at first we both got down pretty well and were basically pros by the end!!! fact!!!!! this was awesome. Neal went off a jump. we also tried body boarding down the dunes, both reaching speeds of about 60kp/h- excellent!

After Swakop we drove to Solitaire (nice apple pies!!) and Sossuvlei to watch the sunrise from Dune 45 (these are the red dunes you sometimes see on the TV!!) and had a desert walk with some crazy, lizard eating, afrikaaner turned bushman which was great.
