Hello!
Well, I've just spent 3 days in singapore but to be honest what with faffing around with flights and sleeping more than was advisable I ony actually had about a day to look around properly - i feel like i spent more time at the airport! (which is very nice by the way!)
I flew from Hong Kong on Thursday evening and as I only got in at 2am I decided to stay in one of the nap pods in the airport rather than get a taxi into the city and try and get a late check in at a hotel. The pod was very nice! Bigger than i expected and relatively comfortable, I also got a free shower, use of hairstraightners and breakfast so it worked out quite well really!!
I only had the pod for 4 hours though so by the time i checked in at my hotel i was pretty shattered and ended up sleeping til about 8pm! I got up and went for a little wander around the suburb I was staying in - there were quite a few little cafes and i found a little indian stall where I had parathas and curry. It was really good and definately made a change from rice!!
The next day I went for a wander around the city - I saw all the major sites including raffles hotel, the harbour and city hall. The city is really nice and everything is really accessible. it is pretty pricey though - probably comparable too if not slightly more expensive than london. In the evening I wandered around the night market in an area called Bugis - I could see there were lots of westeners getting very excited about the prices but frankly compared to china everything was twice as expensive!! I had a wander around the mall after that which had loads of english shops even topshop and dorothy perkins!! I met this english woman who worked for one of the banks and she told me that this was the only place in asia where you could get anything in a size 12 or above - I don't know why she was telling me!!!! :p
I told her all about my trip and how I would be happy if I never saw rice again and she directed me to a little italian nearby which she said did amazing if rather expensive pizzas! I decided to check it out and she wasn't lying - I had a wonderful thin crust pizza with salmon, spinach and creme freche - it was heaven!!
This morning (sunday) I checked out and have spent another 4 hours at the airport waiting for my flight to Malaysia. I will be spending 3 nights in Kuala Lumpar and am staying in Little India - so I'm looking forward to having a proper curry! I get in to KL at 3.30pm my time so will hopefully be able to see alot more than i did in singapore.
Will write again soon to let you know how i'm getting on xxx
