Hello!!!
Hope you are all well - thank you again for my messages - am really pleased with my degree result - Kraft here I come!!
Well, what have i been up to since i last blogged. Well, on one day last week (i'm completely losing track!!) we went to the Longjti Rice Terraces - where, suprisingly enough - they grow rice!! It was really high up in the mountains and I had a lot of trouble getting up to our hotel!! We stayed the first night in a small village, at the top there was only our hotel so that evening we just had dinner and watched a DVD.
On the next day which i believe was sunday (it's starting to come back to me now!) we moved to a larger village - here we did a bit of sunbathing, had dinner and in the evening we watched a traditional tribe singing and dancing in our hotel. The we went to a bar for a few drinks. I had a bit of trouble again here because it was pitch black and i couldn't see where I was going so i got a bit stressed on account of the huge drop!! I'm not the type of girl who belongs up a mountain!!
On Monday we travelled in Gulin the nearest city and spent the day looking in the shops and generally passing the time before our final overnight train. We boarded the train at 9pm and arrived at the border of Hong Kong at about noon the next day.
We crossed the boarder on foot (fun with all our luggage!) and then got the fast train into Hong Kong. Our hotel was really nice and as it was our last official night as a group we all put on our glad rags and hit the town. Hong Kong was amazing at night, before dinner we had a look at Temple street night market which was really good but i couldn't buy anything because I am very low on space! We then had dinner and after that watched the light show (which is in the picture above!) It was so cool, all the buildings danced in time to music!!
We then caught the star ferry and crossed the river to go up Victoria Peak, we caught the Peak Tram and from the viewing tower at the top had panoramic views of the island below!! There were some amazing properties at the top and we all took turns picking where we would like to live if we had millions to spare! My camera doesn't work very well in the dark though which is a shame because it is a sight i would like to remember.
On the wednesday morning we went for Dim Sum the traditional chinese brunch and a type of cusine hong kong is famous for. You get loads of little dishes and then just have a little of everything a bit like tapas. It was ok, but certiainly not my favourite dish of the trip! I spent the afternoon on wednesday at the art museum and then met a couple of the people from the trip for dinner.
This morning i went for a wander along the waterfront and bumped into some girls who went to All saints - how bizzare is that!! It really is a small world after all!
So that's it - my tour of china is offically over! I am now at Singapore Airport and will be staying in the city for 3 nights before moving onto Malaysia on Sunday. I'll keep updating my blog and let you know how i'm getting on!
