Why isn't tallness a recognised disability?
I wearily trudged off the bus in Sydney at 7am after 12 hours on what was described as a Luxury 5* Coach. How a Luxury coach doesn't have a foot rest on each seat i'll never know. Unfortunately I was also a little too big to curl up on the seats I had, sleep was sparse. However, the film Casanova was played and that was surprisingly good.
One of my last acts in Melbourne was to go on one of those machines that takes your height and weighs you. I measured at 2.05m, thats just over 6ft7, Matt Bower you've got no chance. I also think I may still be growing, thats not good but my Body Mass Index is normal so cool bananas.
I headed straight for my hostel which is in an area called Kings Cross. It truly is the ar$e end of Sydney and dodgy as anything. At 8pm ive noticed that police just descend from everywhere and patrol the street. At 8am however you can be propositioned by as many dirty skanky wh0res as you so wish, no thank you I wouldn't like to have "some fun".
My room isn't much better, I hated it at first but ive gradually warmed to it, the hostel is a complete dump but its my complete dump and the people who work their are friendly. When chatting to the Hungarian receptionist about my trip to the zoo she replied "ahh, if I had known about zis you could of taken my mother as I had to vork". See? friendly.
The weather has been great and as I overheard an obnoxious elderly jewish american woman loudly say on her phone while I was watching my ancestor the giraffe get fed - "if this is winter, ill take it". Apparently a giraffe once kicked a lions head completely off its body, thats awesome. Also, a chimpanzee has the strength of 5 men, which 5 men they didn't say but I wouldn't mess.
Im not that enamoured with Sydney, it seems quite expensive, especially the transport system and especially compared to Melboure. The trains do however have double decker seating which is a novelty im still finding interesting.
There was also an actual mental woman walking along today earlier shouting "there aern't any australians, they are all fu*king British sc*m". She scared me just a little, im fu*king British sc*m.
So yeah, done the Sydney Opera House (the outside could do with a good clean), seen the Harbour Bridge and took a ferry ride to the Zoo. I must have walked about 15km today, its my silent protest at the expensive transport system, I hope they are getting my point but my feet are weary. And who are they?
Ive got to go out and find some dinner later, im not looking forward to that but will wait till after 8pm when the cops will be out before I go hunting. On a positive note, I did catch an episode of Neighbours with a guest appearance from Shane Warne.
