Hello hello hello!!! Technically I'm not in Melbourne (in Sydney, but this is mainly about Melbourne so go figure!) This is my last update from Australia and I'm so sad that I'm leaving! But sure, another adventure is just around the corner! And I've had a fantastic time here in Oz, as you can all see from my blogs and pictures! Anyway, I'll give you all the goss over the last few days!
On Saturday we all slept in till really late!! Obviously we all needed it! So we got up and made our way into Melbourne, on a tram... how old school!! Once we got in we went to Federation Square and found the Tourist Office where we booked our Neighbours tour and Neighbours Night and our Phillip Island day tour! I'm well excited now lol. After that we watched some street artists... the English Gentlemen... it was very freaky lol but really funny too! Essentially it was two strong men flinging eachother around!!! Anyway, after that we just had a look around for the Queen Victoria Markets, got completely lost and ended up walking round in circles!! So we didn't make it to the markets! Oh well, saved me some money anyway! Saturday night brought us to the Red Eye bar in the hostel, cheap cheap drinks lol it was a good night!
Sunday we just headed to the museum which was fantastic! They had a really good Natural History section which I loved! And an awesome virtual room thingy which was also cool! We spent a lot of time in the Human Mind and Body section until we watched a movie on child birth and it showed the birth!! We quickly left that section after that!! We didn't do much else on Sunday except had a few more drinks in the bar and headed to bed early in preparation for our Neighbours day!!
Monday May 12th, now officially known as Neighbours Day and one of the best days of my life!! We got up early and got the bus to Ramsay Street! On the way we stopped off at the studios to meet our Mystery Star... IT WAS SUSAN KENNEDY!!!!!! I was sooo excited I almost cried! We got pictures of us with her, then got her autograph... I asked if it was true that she was born in Ireland and she said yes, in a town called Carrickfergus, well... I nearly wet myself!! I screamed "I'm from there!!!!" and she put our accent on and said you are not!! It was so funny! She grew up in Whitehead and I told her my grandparents live there!! I was well excited! You could not get the smile off my face lol. Once that was over we visited Erinsborough High and then the famous Ramsay Street, which is actually a lot smaller in real life!! I of course, got my cheesy pictures outside all the houses and got all excited when I saw them! We spent a while there then headed back to the hostel where we proceeded to get ready for Neighbours Night!! Once we had dinner etc we headed to the Elephant and Wheelbarrow and lined up to get in! We got drinks sorted and waited impatiently for the stars to show! First out was Steve Parker, the new resident vet! Then it was old skool legend Michelle Scully! Then it was Stingray... yummy!!! And the grand finale was DR KARL KENNEDY!!!!! So we all got pics with the stars and had a wee chat with them all, it was fantastic!! Then Waiting Room, Karl Kennedys band played a set and they were brilliant!! So many good songs, and I stood at the front so was really close and he held my hand and gave me high-5's a lot lol brilliant!!!
Tuesday there was no rest for the wicked as we were whisked away for a day tour to Phillip Island... By the way, HAPPY 20TH BIRTHDAY CARL!!! You're getting old tee hee!! Our first stop was a winery which wasn't a great idea as it just topped up our levels from the night before! We all got souvenir penguins as a free gift and we named them, mine is called Sigfried (hi Sigfried!) and we had little scenarios involving our penguins the whole day, it was hilarious but I guess you wud hafta be there lol. After the winery we went to a wildlife sanctuary where we got up close and personal with kangaroos... I was mobbed lol! I had about 4 or 5 around me at one time which was pretty damn scary!! Once we had all recovered from that we headed to Phillip Island and stopped at a scenic flights centre where the 4 of us did a 10 minute helicopter ride around the island, it was amazing, so picturesque from the sky! I got some amazing pics so was well chuffed! Then we made our way to the Nobbies and Seal Rocks where we hunted for seals and penguins, the only ones we found were a group of 4 penguins (see pics) and a dead one which wasn't great! But the Penguin Parade followed where we saw hundreds of the lil cuties!! Fighting their way up the beach to their nests, and they're tiny, the worlds smallest species of penguin! Once we followed the majority back up the boardwalk we hopped back into the bus and headed off for a pizza dinner!! Yummy! Then it was back to the hostel and a goodbye drink as we were all heading our seperate ways 2moro! It was sad and I almost cried when I said goodbye to Nikki and Helen!
Wednesday (today) saw me up early and on the bus to the airport. The flight to Sydney was great, not one bump, and so clear I got a really good view of the area we drove through last week! Once I got off the plane I headed for Sydney and the Harbour Bridge where I was doing my Bridge Climb! Because I was there early they put me on an earlier climb, which was good! Off we went, it was an amazing experience!! Very high up so I was a little scared, especially going over walkways where you could see thru them! But I made it to the top and got photographic evidence to prove it!! It took about 3.5 hours in total for prep the climb and back down again and it was great, fantastic views of the Opera House and all!! After the climb I walked the length of George St and did a bit of essential shopping then faffed on tinternet until Tracey got home! We had a delicious meal of spaghetti bolgonaise then I packed up... very sad that its my last day in Australia... I really dont wanna leave...
Love and miss you all xxx
