After the Inca trek, me and Jade experienced a liquid heaven in the form of our first shower in 4 days!! we checked out of the hotel that we had been in for the night and checked into a hostel. 2 of the Irish girls from our trek were staying there as well so we all decided to treat ourselves to a massage and then a night out. The massage was brilliant and we were totally relaxed. Knowing that you´re supposed to drink after having a massage, we decided to take it easy and only have a couple of drinks. A bit hard to do when there are 10 irish boys and girls encouraging you to play drinking games and before i knew it, I´d got quite close to a new friend, the toilet bowl. We stayed with each other for a bout an hour before Jade decided she wanted a new friend as well so along with me, Jade and the toilet bowl, we found two sinks and the toilet seat. Not really a case of the more the merrier in that situation. The worst part was that we were both on the top bunkbeds and so every few minutes we´d stumble down the stairs, trying hard not to wake everyone in our room up, and run straight back to the bathroom. Safe to say we didnt make it out that night.
The next day (thursday 9th) you can imagine how rough we felt (like a dry piece of toast sat out in the sun) so we stayed in bed and felt sorry for ourselves. We were not happy campers. We managed to pull ourselves together though and had a quiet night of card games and sprite. whilst everyone else opted for hair of the dog and carried on drinking from the night before, we literally couldn´t stomach it.
The next morning we were going to Puno (south Peru) and we had a couple of tag alongs as well. Two of the guys we met at the hostel were heading that way so we all went together and got what is now known as "the bus from hell starring... the Devil Child." Bascially it was some smelly snotty kid who was eating some cannibal-esque chunk of meat and kep throwing bits at us. It was gross and as our stomachs were still abit delicate, not what i wanted on a 7 hour journey. We got through it though and arrived unscathed. Went for a nice meal that night, the four of us and Kieron (one of the guys) decided to get the local delicacy...Cuy. Known in England only as your favourite pet...Guinea Pig. (see pictures). It ahd teeth and everything. Off to Bolivia next so will update then.
Lots of love and hugs xxxxx
