We arrived in Panama for an overnight stay on our way to Peru. For some reason it worked out a lot cheaper to get a flight from Rio through Panama then from Rio straight to Lima in Peru. We arrived in Panama and it was absolutely boilin hot. Not sunny but just ridiculously humid and sweaty...nice. We got to the hostel late in the evening and it was in the middle of a really run down fishing village, not what we were expecting. But was ok once we were inside and the name- Luna´s Castle -was exactly what it was, a castle. We went out for some food and then went to bed as we were pretty tired from the 7 hour flight.
The next morning we decided to go for a wander around to see what sights Panama City had t offer. Bearing in mind we had to leave for the airport for our flight to Peru, the most exciting thing we saw was the sea...not that great, óve you´ve seen one, you´ve kind of seen them all. If we had time, we would´ve gone to the Panama Canal as it is supposedly quite impressive but we didnt.
As we were about the leave the hostel and get in the taxi, i realised that I´d ´lost´my most treasured possession of the trip so far and the one item that would serve me well in a cold country like Peru....my hoodie!! Whether or not i misplaced it or whether someone else ´misplaced´ it will forever be unknown. Then to add injury to insult, the taxi driver thought that we wanted to go shoppinng as opposed to the airport to catch the flight we were already running late for. He took us to a huge shopping mall as he obviously thought the huge backpacks we were carrying were to save on plastic carrier bags at the shopping centre! Idiot. Eventually we got the airport, annoyed and hot (still really humid and sweaty) and then they told us we were late for our flight so they rushed us through check in, we ran through the airport like something out of a film, got to the gate (typically had to be the furthest one away) to discover that the plane was delayed and wasnt even there yet. Even more annoyed. But soon enough it came and we were on our way to Peru, tired annoyed and for me...cold.
Hope everyone is well, thankyou for my messages and emails xxx
Ps - mother, i am eating well (bread and fruit seem to be the main diet) and have still not really been ill yet, just a couple of bites here and there which is fine.
