Arrived in Lima Wednesday night (i think) and we came straight to Miraflores which is nicer area of Lima and checked ourselves into a hostel. Not bad but hard to sleep when there was the worlds loudest snorer in the room! And never heard before, hiccup snoring which is an experience in itself! Went for a wander around Miraflores the next day which is quite nice and more to do than Panama City. We went for ice cream (see pictures), i bought myself a new hoody, yey and then we went for a meal where you can write on the walls so we both made our mark (see photos). Next day we got on a bus to Ica as we heard that there is a place called Huacachina (pronounced Whack-a-chee-na) where you can go sandboarding. After 5 hours on a bus where we watched numerous films and played bingo (!), we got there. The hotel in Huacachina was amazing and for 7 quid a night - i cant find the pound sign on the keyboard so quid will have to do- it was the perfect little luxury for us.
The next day we got up to do a spot of sunbathing until we noticed that at the back of out hotel was a massive huge sand dune. So we decided to climb it. Being an amateur at sand climbing, we didnt do a very good job and halfway up in the blistering desert heat, i was feeling a bit dizzy and we decided to admit defeat! so then we sunbathed. later in the afternoon we went on our sandboarding trip in the middle of nowhere out into the desert with a buggy driver that was a bit mental and was probably trying to scare the hell out of us. The first big dune we can to we all got out and had a go of sandboarding. I went for it stood up and loved it. Fell on my behind halfway down but got back up and went for it again. So i did exactly the same thing but this time i went faster. Big big big mistake. Only as im halfway down the flippin slope did the buggy driver tell me that you are not supposed to go in a straight line. Never a snowboarder or skier, i did not know you werent to do this and so fallen flat on my head and i think blacking out for a second was about what i deserved. And it hurt... a lot. But it didnt stop me so for the next few dunes, the whole group went down on their stomach's. i think they'd seen what had happened to me and it wasnt worth the risk! Ive also got a bit of whiplash too i think but its not that bad. Dont worry mother!!!
That night we got in bed and we were both quite pink from the sun. Not being normal for me, i questionned why id caught the sun so much, then we realised its from the Malaria tablets that make you more prone to sunburn so the next day we both took it easy in the sun and did not do anything exciting coz i could move my head too much. We did however climb the sand dune which we failed to do the previous day and watched the sunset from up there which was quite beautiful.
Our final morning in Huacachina we ate breakfast and got the bus back to Miraflores in Lima which is where we are now. We start out Inca trek tomorrow so may be another week til i can update again.
Lots of love until then xxxxxx
