CAMBODIA!!!! Phnom Penh was a wonderful experience, very educational and very sobering. Its an incredibly sad place - there are reminders of the Khmer Rouge regime everywhere. Incredibly poor people living alongside rich Government officials who drive Lexus'. Crazy Place.

We did a cyclo tour of the city which was ace!! (Even if some of the cyclo guys did give me a little bit more attention than I would have liked, ha ha!!!) We saw the famous Pagoda and a temple type place where monkeys just roam in the grounds!! We went for cocktails in the FCC that day too and to a resturaunt run by a charity for street kids (the first of 2 charity run resturaunts we went to) The nexy day we went to the Killing Fields and S-21. It was the most shocking thing I jhave ever experienced, what those poor people had to go through. You walk through the killing fields and there's bones and teeth beneath you feet. Awful, awful place but I'm so glad I went. people have to see the evidence of what happended to ensure that nothing like that ever EVER happens again.

In the evening we were sooooo lucky!! Tim knows a guy who lives in Phnom Penh wokring as a guide in the S-21 museum, and we all went to his house for dinner. His wife cooked us the most amazing meal (with honey fried tarantula for desert!! yum!!!) He runs an English teahing school for the local kids downstairs in his house, and we got to meet them and help them practice English - they were awesome!! The guy was so honest with us as well, we asked him all about what its like living in Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge - lots of stuff, and he told us everything. (People in Cambodia never speak badly of the government etc outside the safety of their own home). They were an amazing family and it was a truly amazing experience I'll never, ever forget.
