We tore ourselves away from the food and beach and made the 4 hour journey inland to Dalat. It's a nice little town in the highlands, surrounded by farms and full of French influence. We really feel like we could be somewhere in the south of France. Our hostel is lovely, a 6 bed dorm but for $5 a night each we get breakfast and dinner included. We ended up spending 3 nights in our shiny hotel room. Nha Trang really felt like we had ended up in a Russian resort, but it had really good food so naturally we spent longer there to make our way around all the restaurants. So our second night bus did not go to plan.... We got transferred to a different, very dodgy, bus company and spent 12 hours on a top bunk swearing at the drivers driving skills. These companies have an annoying habit of 'reserving' all the best seats for locals they pick up along the way for cash. We've spent the last 4 days in a slight damp Hoi An, but it hasn't changed my love for the town. The first day we spent the whole day wandering around the town, exploring all the little streets lined with tailors, shoe makers and gift shops. Photos of this place don't do it justice, at light all the old streets are lit by multicoloured lanterns and the riverside comes alive with so many restaurants serving mouthwatering food. Another trip gone well, all checked into a lovely hotel with pool. Its raining continuously and mozzies have eaten my leg alive.... Still totally in love with Hoi An and once we get some tailor made brogues I think Tash might be joining that!
