On Monday morning we caught the 3rd class northern train up to the historical town of ayutthaya. Getting the bus to the station, train and tuk tuk to the 1301 hostel was only 100 baht for both of us, rather cheaper than the 200 baht pp minibuses everyone else seemed to opt for. We landed in Bangkok to start our adventure. A cheeky 45 baht got us to phaya Thai station where it took 4 attempts to find a cab that understood where our hostel was.
