We got the night boat across from Kho Tao to Surat Thani and then caught the minibus from there onto Ao Nang. it took just over 12 hours, but suprisingly the journey wasn't that bad. The boat had beds all lined up in rows on the floor, which apart from having to sleep about a cm away from a stranger on a rock hard mattress it was fine. Also catching the boat with us was about 20 squeeling pigs and a kitten - they stunk! We thought we was in for a nightmare sea crossing, but after a while it was calm. We had no accommodation when we arrived, but got dropped at some bungalowscalled seagul huts, which was only a short walk from the beach and cheap so we did ok. The beach here was burning hot, Loz was about to die of heat exhaustion, but luckly it rained and cooled down a bit! After the monsoon we sat on the front with a singha beer and watched the most gorgeous sunset ever (the picture is above!) On day two here we had a brilliant time! We went on a whole day trip and there was only us on it so we had more tie and our very own tour guide called paul. First we went to a hot spring waterfall and had to walk through the rainforest to get there, which was fun! The water in the hot spring was boiling, it was like getting into a hot bath, but its just a natural heat from the earth, as there used to be a volcano there, we could have stayed there all day, it was just great, and good for your skin too as it has loads of minerals in the water, we couldn't believe how clear the water was in the middle of a rainforest! Afetr this we went to a crystal pool, which was cooler, but still full of good minerals! It was just a natural pool on top of a mountain, and the water was pure! Great fun! It was lunch time by this point and after all the swimming we was hungry! They brought us 3 different dishes of thai food and fruit, Loz eat everything, she is used to the tastes now (even the Thai green curry). We was stuffed! In the afternoon we went elephant riding, it was brilliant. It was an asian elephant and was 40, the oldest one there and it was ginourmous! The man who took us on the elephant ride climbed up it's trunk and sat on its head while we went treking. Oh yes, and we also got a trubk full of snot blown onto usm, which was disgusting! After the ride we got to fedd the elephant. During our day paul showed us a couple of other places as well, he showed us some local people making rubber from the tree sap and how it's done. he took us to a pinapple field! We thought they grew on trees like coconuts, but they grow from plams on the ground and only 1 pinapple is produced per plant and when it's picked it dies. We also went to a local market, which made loz feel sick as there was raw fish and smelly food everywhere! We only stayed here 2 days, so not much else to tell you about this place! We are now in Phi Phi, so will update on this place in a few days! Bye xx
