Right !
I went biking around the area for the afternoon. It was cool to be on a bike on my own for the first time... But seeing the rain not so far away, I decided to stop for coffee... So now, Vietnamese coffee lesson !
They mostly drink their coffee cold. It comes in a small cup, with a metal infuser on top of it. It takes ages for the small amount of water to go through and honestly, the coffee you get in this cup is nearly solid it's soooooooo strong ! They also bring a big glass, full of ice cubes. You wait patiently until the water has passed through, then you add sugar or sweet condensed milk or nothing... And you pour the coffee into the glass. You mix a while... Then you sip. But you sip so slowly you have to make this last for at least an hour or you did not have a proper Vietnamese coffee.
At first I was on my own at my small table under a sun umbrella... And two middle aged guys where sipping their coffee and chatting, not far away. But when it started raining slightly, they decided to join me. Unfortunately, none spoke even one word of English... So we tried, but to no avail, to chat. At some stage, the rain really intensified so we took refuge under the large bamboo house where everyone else was. Naturally we sat at the same table... And started not chatting for over 40 minutes. I was watching the rain, sipping my coffee slowly, like they do. We were offering each other cigarettes and time was passing so gently like this. I loved that moment.
Oh I forgot. What a laugh. In that place, nobody spoke English at all. Good I know how to say cold coffee or cold tea now in Vietnamese... When I asked for milk, they didn't understand, of course. So here I am, imitating the cow "meeeuuuuuuuuh" and showing with my hands the action of milking a cow.... Believe it or not, they still didn't understand... :-)) oh well, I had black coffee. Malesh.
So back to my story, after a while a young man arrived with his son and he was the nephew of one of the guys. And good stuff, he could speak English. So now we could ask each other all the questions we had meant to... How great again to be able to communicate !
After another 30 minutes, I finished my coffee and wanted to pay but... they had already paid for it when I had gone to the toilet... Can you believe this ? It's true that Vietnamese are a lot after tourist money, but like everywhere else i'd say. And here, they have a French tourist, who has way more money than them and yet, they pay for my coffee... What can I say. These guys made my day.
Back to the hotel, I finished packing and wanted to sleep early... But of course I didn't until 3 am...
Next stop : Dalat !

nadegeb72 Hey les Boinnard là hein ho ! :-))))J'aimerais bien vous y voir ! Ouais j'ai appris à dire lait aujourd'hui.
