After the house getting burgled just before I left and a rather endless 10hour flight from dusseldorf I made it to Bangkok and 36C with full humidity.
Unfortunately at 15weeks and 4 days I lost my ability to fold comfortably like a contortionist into any tiny airline seat. Everything hurt and out of worry that I'd squash the baby I didn't shut an eye all night and had to listen to middle aged man talking about their Thai fiancees as us they were replaceable pieces of meat: 'not sure if she's the right one, if not I'll still have fun this week and there'll be another one.'. Classy!
The bump out of revenge really popped out over night, where there was a nearly flat stomach yesterday, today there is such a baby bump that a lady even offered me her seat on the tube!
I think I'll have to cut my ambitious plans of travelling by bus to siem reap, phnom penh, Saigon, hue etc short and head directly to the beach... Sleeping sitting up is not an option anymore - sigh.
Bangkok is beautiful! And after 3 months in India so unbelievable clean! Got to the hotel by noon, started off with some dim sum and went for a 4hour power walk around town with various fruit snacks from the road side.
Ended up in the Siam square shopping paradise and spend almost an hour at the food hall in the Siam paragon mall! Amazing, they have absolutely everything! From dragon fruit cut into little hearts to giant scallops. And you can try everything! This is the place to buy pressies for home!
In the basement is the ocean centre and even though I didn't expect to I really enjoyed the visit - not only because a free pedicure ( see photo ) is included :). Would love to come back when my son is old enough!
Finished the day off with a Tom yum soup and a walk along silom road with a peek into the seedy but rather boring bars and more fruit.
The baby and I need a rest and our vitamins now.
Good night!
