Sorry for my lack of writing but i've had such a busy and hectic time sitting around in the sun doing nothing i've just not had the time, especially in Laos it's taken a lot of effort to get out of the hammock by the river , and do anything except get another beer Lao !!
Back in China though , i did go trekking through Tiger Leaping Gorge along the Yangtse River , it's an absolutely stunning place , although i did it in 2 days as i forgot to take any money with me , and these not many ATM's 2500m up a mountain . I spent a couple more days in Lijiang after the gorge . The Sexy Tractor Irish Bar was very hard to leave .
I did leave in the end though and eventually got to Kunming my last stop in China . Only intended stopping for 2 days but was there for a week . Mainly due to full body massages for just over a quid , and the fact that i some how got a blood infection , that made my foot swell like a balloon , which meant i could hardly walk !!!!! . I had to go to the hospital , where i saw three different doctors , went for a blood test , and left with a massive bag of drugs i had to take 12 a day for a week , and had to keep my foot bandaged up for a week . It's all ok now though .
Got the bus in the end on the last day of my visa , straight through to Luang Prabang in Laos it only took 29 hours , broke down twice , and stopped in a little town just over the Lao border for something to eat . The resturant we stopped at had a bar be-cue outside had tasty treats to eat like a full cat , rats , and guinea pigs in cages , all ready to be shoved on a stick and cooked to your liking . I got a tube of pringles from up the road , and got back on the bus !!
Luang Prabang is the best place i've been so far . I've got a private room with a balcony over looking the river for 4 pounds a night , the weathers been between 30 and 39 every day , beers 40p a litre and whiskey is 10p a glass and nearly every football match with and english team is on tv ( thanks for the match report Nige , glad to here you got away from those albino dwarfs ) . i have actually done a little bit here a group of us went to a waterfall in the jungle , and spent the day swimming in the pools at the bottom . And spent the next day kayaking down the river past small river side villages and through limestone gorges . The rest of the time though has been spent having a massage a day and sitting in a hammock .
It's a strange town for drinking , the whole town closes at 11 . Then the only place you can get a drink is a bowling alley on the edge of town that dosen't close at all . We don't try and hit the pins we play who can bowl the fastest bowl . And i am the Luang Prabang Speed Bowling Champion with 36kmph .
These also a good night market where i procured a 2 1/2 foot sword to protect myself in the jungles , it's better to be safe than sorry !!!
