This morning we awake before 6am, just as our fellow hostel mates are starting to wind down from their all night rager. With all the bars and clubs in Lima you'd think they'd want to actually go out but for some reason they all think the hostel is a better place to party. This concept is completely lost on me but to each his own. We find out before we leave that our hostel is actually an Israeli hot spot, so we were 2 of only 3 non Israeli guests staying there....

Tonight is our last night in Lima, and while we enjoyed our time here we are both grateful to rid ourselves of the craziness of this city. On our way to dinner tonight we see a guy come within mere inches of having his foot run over, and that is just normal everyday life here. Today is our first official day in South America. We wake early and catch a taxi from our hostel into the Miraflores district in the heart of Lima...a drive that takes an entire hour because Lima is a massive city with 18 districts and over half a million people. Our cab driver Marco is very friendly and somehow gets us to our destination safely, which to us seems quite a difficult task. One seriously has to be a professional to drive in this city. Waking up in a foreign place is one of the best feelings a vagabond can have. The day is new and the future is wide open. We will spend the next 2 or 3 days exploring Lima, gathering any last minute supplies and getting a feel for this country that will be our home for the next 3 months or so.
