so finally i get a chance to fill in my fantastic week and even better weekend.so here it goes....
saturday night (the day before Adam arrives at 6am!) i finished work at 3.30pm and came home to a nice cold glass of goon (extremly cheap wine....$10 for 4 litres!) so had a few too many of them as it was my roommates last night. so had a few bevvies up on the roof and went to bedforshire relativly early but the red bull i had drunk meant that i was staring at the ceiling most of the night....great!!!
i went to pick adam up from the aiport around 7.30am with hangover in tow...again. we collected the van(christened brenda...not sure why...we were both hungover so who knows where the name came from)!!! we got out the city about 11am after collecting brenda and getting my stuff and headed south out the city. we took the scenic route down the coast and went through the national park. we scenry was stunning and cant belive how close to the city we still were. we stopped at stradwell for lunch and a leisurly walk on the beach. we drove further down the coast to Kiama....where i went before with the guys at christmas. we got our campsite by about 5pm. had a bbq for dinner and a few beers and crashed for the night. i think we were tucked up and snoring (welll i know adam was doing plently of that!!) by about 10pm!!! the rock and roll lifestyle we lead!!!
I would also like to mention on this day i did i actually try to reverse Brenda on a hill without the engine turned on! Hilarious.
So day 2 of Brenda (Monday)
We set off early...well 11am and carried on driving on further south. We stopped at seven mile beach around the corner from Kiama. We got to Jervis bay around 1pm and stopped for lunch of ham, tomato, extra strong vintage cheese, salad and English mustard (thanks mages!!) sandwiches. They were like heaven especially washed down with a cold beer. The sun was shining and the sea was beautiful. Absolutely amazing spot. We stopped at hyams beach-the whitest sand in the world ...the sea was turquoise and it was just so beautiful. Loved it. We drove a bit further and Adam found his tin whistle....so i had the pleasure of listening to that whilst i was driving....whiskey in the jar'o, wild rover, amazing grace and old MacDonald's farms were just some of the delightful tunes on offer throughout the journey!!! We drove to Murray's beach...which was just as nice except i think it may have been a clothing optional beach as there was a very hairy man making sure he wasn't getting any tan lines!!!
We then drove on to historic lighthouse...1875 i think it was built and then blown up at a later date as it was deemed an inappropriate place to put a lighthouse as the boats kept crashing....by about 4pm we decided to look for a campsite so we drove down toHuskisson bay. Had a seafront pitch which was amazing...so we got settled, had a beer and then for a swim in the sea. Bloody great day. This country just amazes me very time i go somewhere different....it's so beautiful.
So for dinner was pasta and beer and some ENGLISH dairy milk choc (thanks Aunty Freda). Adam went a little crazy after dinner....provided me with some entertainment as he dint stop talking for a good 2o minutes without stopping, followed by a rendition on the tin whistle and a little jig to with it!!Ha-ha good times.
After the sugar rush has subsided...the stars came out. We saw satellites, shooting stars and the Milky Way....love it...just love it.
Day 3 Tuesday
We watched the sunrise over the ocean whilst laid in bed....heaven. Had a leisurely breakfast of bacon butties...i tell you what, we were the envy of the whole campsite with the smell of those butties cooking!! So set off on our way down to Batemans bay but we stopped at Bendalong...a small but another stunningly beautiful beach. There were fisherman gutting their catch and round the boat were stingrays eating the guts....wild stingrays....what else can i say.
We headed down the coast to Batemans bays and got to our site about 3pm. So beer in hand, bikini and towel we went for an afternoon swim...followed by a bbq of steak, sausage and sweet corn topped off with a bottle of wine...which i somehow managed to finish by myself!!! You could say i was maybe a little bit merry!!
Previous to this we stopped at the local information point. Adam was looking at some brochures and turned round to kiss me....only i hadgone to look at something else and very nearly kissed another girl...i saw this all!!Ha-ha very funny. The even funnier bit was they were on our campsite that night!!Ha-ha
Day 4
After another leisurely morning....as always...we had a game of crazy golf...only because i whooped Adam last time we played in nz so it wanted it win this time. Which he did...boys and wining eh! We had fish and chips for lunch and then headed over the Great Dividing Range to head towards Canberra. Great driving and great views. We got ACT about 6pm after some slow driving....all our driving throughout the trip was slow. Most days we only did about 60kms but seemed to take us all day. We stopped at Braidwood for ice-cream and went to Major Creek....thinking it was something special. As the photo shows it was not, it was barely even a creek. Good driving though. And more tin whistle....
So we stayed at Capital county holiday park that night close to Canberra to save on driving the following day. Our campsite has wild kangaroos jumping around, and Adam got very excited about this. Wild parrots too, but to be fair they are everywhere. There was even a massive jumping pillow...a jumping castle for adults...so this did give me lots of entertainment...and sore legs...giggles like a kid!!!Ha-ha
More beer and more pasta for dinner. We played cards...and i lost, and if anyone knows me....know i don't like that!!But was good fun all the same.
Day 5
We drove over to Canberra on Thursday to meet some of Adams friends. We went kayaking in the morning which was hard work....i think more so for Adam than me as every time i talked i stopped paddling and i talk a lot....let's say i don't think Adam will be going kayaking with me again anytime soon!!!!
We spent the rest of the day doing crossword and generally chilling out for a change...not rushing about. We met up with Helen and Stuart in the evening...we went out for dinner to an Irish bar (where else!) we all ended up getting very drunk...no surprise to anyone. They were a good laugh and had a great time with them. Helen is actually from Sheffield and has family in edlington...small world eh! So we got back to Brenda about 3am and then had to get up to leave at 9am....so not much sleep and too much make jenny and Adam very bad at directions. In my tidying up i threw out all the maps so at one point we were actually driving to Melbourne....totally the opposite direction to Sydney....ha-ha good times. We got to Sydney about 3.30pm after hitting the afternoon traffic. Dropped off Brenda...this was sad. It had been such a good week...didn't want it to end...
We then went to Donna and tom's engagement party but i can honestly say that i wasn't the life or soul of the party with a hangover to kill for!! So we left about 10pm to prepare for the vfest on Saturday!!!
