After a 2 hour flight from Sweden we finally arrived in London. WOW! What a treat it was to land in London on a cloudy and rainy winter day. We collected our bags and were greeted by Andy or Peta's better half and started the journey to their house. Once we arrived at their house we were quickly greeted by "the dog," a 65kg Japanese Akita. A few days later we dragged ourselves out of bed and took the tube to the city. Hmmm....I guess it always helps if you can read the tube sign correctly and know which direction you are traveling. With a slight detour we arrived in the city and finally the sun decided to come out. At first glance we were at Leicester Square and headed for the hop on hop off bus tour to start our exploring when we happened to notice the students gathering for a protest. Send out the Calvary! Soon we jumped on the bus and traveled towards London Tower Bridge where we walked past the Tower of London to join the ferry ride. Traveling down the Thames River we passed The London Bridge (nothing much to see) and arrived at Big Ben just in time to hear the clock strike. We started our walk towards Westminster Abbey and continued through Hyde Park until we reached Buckinham Palace. What a sight for me to see. I secretly always wanted to pretend for a moment I was royalty. Well, close enough I finally was able to touch the gates surrounding the palace. Eventually we were able to find the hop on bus tour and continued our journey through the city. It was mind boggling to actually see buildings with a history older than my own country. After the sun had officially disappeared and the crisp cold air had settled in we quickly jumped on the tube, fighting our way through hundreds of people in rush hour and travelled back to Peta's house. After a week of cold and grey weather we decided to pack our bags and travel back to Athens for the rest of our belongings. Another adventure to the airport and another dodgy packing job. Thank you Agean for not weighing our carryon bags, otherwise they would think we were carrying a dead body for as much as those two bags weighed. We waved good-bye to gloomy London and jetted off to sunny Athens.
