We depart the city and head to the village. Our departure is delayed by two incidences. The bus couldn't accommodate our weight and it was touching a high point that led to the main road. We were therefore asked to get out of the bus. When the driver was turning around he hit into another packed small car. This delayed our departure for almost one hour. Shaoguan town is much more modern than I expected. The university students gave us warm welcome. Our entry into the hall was met with a standing ovation and waving of hands. They had very interesting activities and performances and were very excited to see us. Most of them asked to take pictures with us. The students from Shaoguan University were mostly medical students. Medical school in China takes 5years. Shaoguan food was not as good as that in Guangzhou though it was up to standard. Also we did tag of war as a competition among the different groups. Despite us being the underdogs we ended up winning and our prizes were hand-held fans for each of the group members. I attribute our winning to strategy since there was a team that was poised to win because it had a strong anchorman. They also made us join in their wobble dance and do show off our dancing skills. It was great making friends though it was sad that some of them wanted to keep in touch but it was very difficult since we do not have phone numbers and we use different social networking sites. I also came to appreciate their hip-hop dancing moves. They were really talented and it was a pleasure seeing the amount of effort they put to welcome us. They are also really excited to see Americans and would really love to travel to the U.S. Though they couldn't communicate easily in English we really bonded. I am really looking forward to the next 5days and more so the hiking!
