Another fantastic night's sleep followed by a very slow start to the day. We had decided to spend the day around the caravan getting ready to head back to the Queensland coast tomorrow. Everyone slept really well last night again and we didn't get up until 8 ish. This morning we had breakfast and then drove off to explore the South Alligator Region of Kakadu. We went to Mamukala first and walked out to the observation platform to view the wetlands. We spotted a short necked turtle and a few birds but no crocs. We all slept a little better last night - I think we are acclimatizing to the heat and noises, and didn't get up until 8 am. As much as I love Kakadu it is a terrible place to have a good night's sleep!! At midnight last night the bats woke us all up when they began screaming in the tree that overhangs the caravan. The boys woke up just before six and had to be separated, as they couldn't keep quiet. Matty was moved to the couch and everyone else managed to sleep on until 7am. The mornings in Kakadu are fantastic - a perfect temperature outside and no mossies!! Nick and I sat outside and enjoyed the peace for as long as the kids would let us and then I made them all breakfast while Nick did the laundry.
