Today was a day of castles. Pretty cool really, and a large French supermarket. Also pretty cool. We pay way too much for wine in australia. ( at dinner, our wine was cheaper than the kids lemonade.....tomorrow they can drink wine)

Today we spent a cracking day with the torpey-hills at their house in souillac. It began with a backyard BBQ of duck (of course) goats cheese and Camembert and cahors wine. We then wrenched the kids away from an attic full of Lego to the river where they entertained themselves chasing frogs in the shallows and then swimming. After a day wandering aimlessly around the stunning hilltop town of cordes Sur Ciel yesterday ( cordes in the heavens) we left en route to beynac. We stopped in another stunning town named st cirq lapopie which clings to a hilltop hundreds of metres above a river. In the tradition of : it's a thousand years old or we ain't interested, we visited the grotte pech Merle , which is a system of caves discovered in 1922 that has cave paintings up to 25,000 years old....

We are wifi starved in cordes today, but we are also starved of the constant sound of scooters, cars, tractors, people....... We have awoken to just the sound of birds, roosters and church bells, so I forgive cordes. We spent 7 hours on the car yesterday mostly at 130km/h on the motorways, so not much to report.
