Travelling by Greyhound from Yosemite to San Francisco on Monday was at last a journey without any weirdos!! But it wasn't without it's funny moments!
While sitting in the Merced waiting room in walks some fellow bus travellers from a greyhound that was doing a quick stopover! Where possible, people try to hold onto their bladder contents until such stops so to avoid using the bus toilet! One traveller however had obviously held onto their bladder contents for a little too long, and had been unable to wait until the bus pulled in!!!! The woman was escorted into the toilets by a friend with very wet jeans, just in the crotch area, both front and back! We're not really sure what they thought they might achieve by going into the toilets at this point, as it was obviously too late! And out she came moments later still with very wet jeans, so it would seem little was achieved!!
Once on the greyhound, the journey to San Francisco was a little over 4 hours, arriving at a very drizzly 8:30pm. With a short walk we made it to our hostel which was a hive of activity and straight away had a great atmosphere! We dumped our bags and headed straight out to an area called North Beach to a couple of bars for a quick drink before heading to bed.
Tuesday we awoke to a drizzly San Francisco again, but the weather had no chance of making this city dull!! It really is stunning place and the vibe and the people are fantastic! We walked to Pier 39 where we got to see the sea-lions that have made the bay their home, and had some very yummy lunch of soup in a sourdough roll.
Wandering up to the other end of Fisherman's Wharf we caught a cable car up and down the very VERY steep streets with Ollie hanging off the side, and Sasha safely seated inside! Departing close to Market Street where we soaked up alot of window shopping, and treated ourselves to a new jumper each in the fabulous Old Navy.
That evening we found a fantastic little bar called Vesuvio! It is right next to the City Lights book store, and is full of loads of weird and wonderful niknaks!! it was fun to watch out of the window as the local tramps danced out of time to their tuneless music!
Wednesday was a beautifully sunny day and we headed to the Ferry Building and Fisherman's Wharf again to get some fantastic photos!
Yesterday we had a lazy wander around Market Street and bought ourselves some new trainers to replace our smelly ones that were falling apart!! Then heading to a great little Mexican restaurant for some mega cheap lunch! Ollie had a burrito pretty much the size of his forearm, and pronounced himself King of the Burritos after consuming it. Whilst there we managed to pick up two flyers that would get us free admittance into the cinema that night!
Turning up nice and early at the cinema we queued up with all the other freeloaders all wondering if we would get in! Little should we of feared as the cinema was half empty, and so we got ourselves a free showing of Due Date! A very funny film, and even funnier watching it with American cheapskates!! We had a woman sitting one side of us who obviously felt part of the film!! She added her own commentary to the whole thing!! Then at the end of the film, the entire audience gave the film a great applause! Strange!
Once we got out from the cinema it was quite apparent that the whole of San Francisco had gone crazy mad about the fact that The Giants had won the World Series! The streets were packed with people partying and going absolutely insane!! It's funny though how the San Francisco Giants are able to win a WORLD Series when all the teams are American teams!
Today we head off to a sleepy little town just outside of SF to stay with Sasha's family for a couple of nights but will then be coming back to this fantastic city!
