Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
Our start to the day in Puerto Montt was again interesting. I had organized a tour for ourselves and 20 other Cruise Critic members to go to the ski area on Orsono Volcano, see Petrohue Falls, and visit the city of Puerto Veras which is on the 2nd largest lake in South America. Puerto Montt is a tender port so getting us all off early on the same tender was a bit of a challenge. It was a good group and we pulled it off. Then it got very interesting and we were lucky. As in Valparaiso, dock workers were conducting a “work action”. They blocked the port. We and the Princess bus in front of us made it out and then nothing got out. It was nerve racking when we heard the workers beating on the side of our small bus. Eventually they did let out more buses but Princess had to cancel half their tours. Although it was cloudy and we did have rain during our stay in Puerto Veras, we did have a good day. The visibility from the volcano was limited but we did get a good view of the lake. It even snowed a little. We cut our stay there short but added an unplanned visit to the Emerald Lagoon. Our guide, Nellie, was one of the best we have had. She is a teacher and a singer when not being a tour guide. She spoke excellent English and had a great sense of humor.

Sharon I probably already told you, but I, really enjoy your blogs. Not too long and very interesting. I went to a Buddy Holly( remember him, Wayne) performance tonight and it was fantastic. He and band also did some songs from the big Bopper, and Richie Valens. Continue having a great time, despite some strikers.
