Shivani woke up at 9.30 in the morning and asked if I wanted to head down for breakfast. I was too sleepy so didn't join her. She went down are breakfast and sent a few new years messages.
When she came back she phoned India and phoned Masi too. I was still half sleeping and she read her book. It was still raining outside but after midday we were a little hungry so decided to venture out.
We got an umbrella from reception and went to an Italian place on the square. We had some really nice pasta and wine followed by good coffee and a couple of chocolate desserts. When we came outside it had stopped raining so we went and walked round the market on the square. The was some nice artwork there and we thought about buying presents for people but it would still be too difficult to transport everything with us. We did however end up buying a wallet to replace the stolen one.
After we headed back to the hotel. We had arranged to meet Nimmi in the evening and while we waited we looked into what we could do with our last 3 weeks. We still needed to get to the Amazon and I managed to find a relatively cheap flight going from Recife on the 12th. This would give us 10 days at the north beaches and a few days at the Amazon before we could head to Rio for the last couple.
After booking the flights it was time to go and meet Nimmi and we arranged to meet at Leblon mall. It had started raining again so we decided it was best to take a cab. It was hard to find one but we eventually did and were soon at the mall. All the shops were closed and although it was a posh mall the food court didn't have much in the way of food we would want.
When Nimmi and Mitul arrived we resolved to head into Leblon to a street Shivani had found with some restaurants. It was a few blocks away and we walked down. We passed a few places and they were all quite busy. We eventually stopped at an Asian one called Togu which Shivani had seen good review for. Nimmi enquired about a table and was told in would take 30 minutes. We decided to wait and got a drink and chatted outside.
It took about an hour but we eventually got a table. The place did good sushi so I ordered a combo and the others got noddles. The food came out and was really good. We ate and had a good conversation.
It was pretty late when we finished and had started raining heavily again. We needed to get taxis and asked the restaurant to organise it. They sent a guy into the street to look for them. It took him ages but he eventually found some. We said our goodbyes to Nimmi and Mitul and said we would keep in touch and meet in London.
When we got back it was already past 1am. We had a flight at 12pm tomorrow so needed to get to bed. Before we slept we watched the firework display that had happened in London. It was even better than the one we had seen and it was dry there too!!
