We awoke after a good nights sleep and quickly got ready. We went for breakfast and were really happy to get some eggs, cheese and ham. We quickly ate this and picked up our bags and headed to the bus station.
We boarded the bus, finding it full of tourists making there way into Bolivia. The bus quickly departed and we headed off for the border. It was a 3 hour journey and we passed the time playing trivial pursuit and monopoly. We drove along the side of lake Titicaca which was nice but not as nice as some of the other scenery we had seen.
Arriving at the border we checked out of Peru and into Bolivia. I changed all our Peruvian money to Bolivian at one of the exchanges. We then got back on the bus and took the short journey to Copacabana.
This was a very small town but much nicer than Puno, although obviously geared for tourists. We got off the bus and grabbed our bags and set off to look for a hostel. Shivani wasn't feeling good again as we had gone up higher and probably hadn't drunk enough water. We decided we would have a chill out day as we had been running around too much.
We went to a hostel that was recommended in the book as a treat yourself. On the way we passed another one that looked quite good too. After checking out both places we decided to stay at nicer one which was slightly more expensive but still cheap. Bolivia was supposed to be the cheapest of the South American countries we were visiting and it certainly seemed like that given the prices we had seen.
After checking in to the hotel we decided to have a nap. We were both knackered and ended up passing out for 4 hours. When we woke it was about 5pm. Shivani was still not feeling great so we got some coca tea and then headed out for some dinner.
We went to a place recommended by the hotel but it was closed. We were on the main street so decided to find something there. Walking along the street we passed a place selling jewellery. They had some nice wooden rings, which Shivani and I could wear to replace our real wedding rings which we had left in London. We bought them both for 30 bolivianos, although I should have haggled.
We then went for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. This place was decorated really quirkily and had a huge menu serving all different types of cuisine. We stuck to the Mexican food which was quite nice.
After dinner we went to a coffee place next door to get some more coca tea to try and shift Shivanis headache. We also ordered a slice of cake which was huge but not that nice. We slowly drank our tea and watched the Freddie Mercury tribute concert DVD which was actually really good.
After that we decided to go back to our hostel and watch some DVDs, as we didnt have an early start for once. We picked a couple from reception and then went back to the room and watched Awake and Out of Time and then went to sleep.
