We woke up this morning and had to get ready for going to La Paz. Shivani was still not that well, she had been up in the night and still had an upset stomach. However, she still wanted to go. So we got up and went for some breakfast. Shivani managed to eat a little which was good and the hotel arranged a taxi for us to La Paz so we would have more flexibility than travelling on the bus.
So we got packed and sat in the garden while we waited for the taxi. It was a nice day and the lake looked nice. It was even more spectacular on the journey to La Paz in the taxi. I took lots of pictures but the couldn't capture the view we had with our eyes. The journey was quite nice and we had a surprise when the taxi had to cross part of the lake on a barge. This apparently was the only route as the buses were doing it too!!
As we drove away from the lake we came into the view of the snow capped mountains. We drove up towards them and after going past the airport we reached the top of the bowl of La Paz. The view was stunning and we stopped quickly to take pictures. We then headed down into the city. It was really busy and polluted. It was a far cry from Copacabana. We arrived at our hotel and checked in. The room was nice and Shivani tested out the facilities immediately. She had made the journey but still wasn't well.
We rested for a bit and then went out to see if we could plan our trip to the salt flats. We visited a few agents before Shivani needed to come back to the room. Her stomach was upset and she was tired. She needed to rest, so I went out for dinner on my own. I walked around for a bit and tried to go to the recommended Indian restaurant. It was empty but apparently fully booked. I ended up at a Dutch place and had sate, which was surprisingly spicy and good.
I then walked around a bit, the whole area seemed like one big market. It was a little dark, dirty and rundown. I made my way back to the room where Shivani was watching tv in bed. We watched a little more before going to sleep. I hoped Shivani would be better tomorrow.
