What a great night! We had a guide take us to see a giant Sea Turtle lay her eggs on the beach. The real story is what it took us to get there, but that's for another time. Crazy (Alice in Wonderland) story! It took a while and it wasn't easy, but once we arrived it was dark and we needed to be very quiet. There is some heat lightning, and Patrick doesn're react very well to that and wants to go home right away. He gets very anxious about certain weather conditions. Mama turtle is getting ready to lay her eggs, but needs ideal conditions. Colin loses his sunglasses and starts to cry (we were up early that morning and took a 2 1/2 hour horesback riding trip through a wooded finca. He would have been better served having an early night check-in, rather than scouting beaches for sea turtles late into the evening). I'm thinking there is a strong possibility that between the two of them, the sea turtle may go lay her eggs elsewhere!

As it turned out she began laying her eggs, and I felt privileged to have the opportunity to witness the event. It was miraculous! It was enough to distract the boys from their own concerns long enough to enjoy it as well.
