The sunrise was equally as impressive from the lookout we had camped from and after sorting out our a accommodation for the night in Alice we headed off, agreeing to meet the family again once we got there.
We headed toward Alice and tried to check out a few more gorges along the way but they all required a bit of 4WDing so ended up having a quick look at Ellery creek, then we couldn't find parking at Stanley Chasm so headed to Simpsons Gap. It was an easy walk and looked lovely.
On the way into Alice on the outskirts of town was a Desert Park where we had lunch and checked out the animals. The nocturnal displays were mostly amazing, with large displays for the animals in mostly natural settings you could really see them as they may be in the wild. There was an absolutely terrifying barking spider that will make me rethink any large hole I ever come across.
The bird show was very cool even though the local untrained birds were stealing the treats and putting off the trained birds it made for a more enjoyable show - maybe not for the trainer though.
When we got to the park the kids were excited by the jumping pillow and waterslide, Mick less thrilled with the size of the site he had to reverse into, lucky the guy next door stepped in to give directions. The girls ran around till dark, then after dinner we all went to visit the new friends and played uno and Balderdash until late while the dads watched the AFL. It was a very funny night with a lot of laughs.
