Amazing nights sleep in the tent- I think I might be able to survive a month sleeping on the ground. Today on our way to our aclimatisation trek we saw giraffes along the road side! (I think I terrified the driver into an emergency stop by shouting out "Giraffe!") The trek was harder than expected and it was very hot but after lunch we walked to a local village which was where our guide Robert lived with his family. It was our first experience of a Kenyan village and it lived up to the expectations- there were lots of animals wandering around the shanty-like buildings but so many smiling and welcoming faces. In the middle of the village was a local school with so many gorgeous children who wecomed us with high fives and handshakes- once they had greeted us the children, gathered up by their teacher, sang us a song in swahili with actions that looked like head shoulders knees and toes although with a lot more hip shaking! trekked back to the campsite where we ate a much needed tea cooked again over the fire and bbq. We also saw the most amazing African sunset over the lake- I cant believe how beautiful this country is.
