Woke up at 7am to a cold shower- must have been a sign of things to come! Travelled down to London Heathrow ready for the flight from London to Doha then Doha on to Nairobi.
Exited the plane at Doha at around 11.30pm to what felt like a wall of fire, I hope this isnt what its going to be like in Africa- I wont cope!! Our second leg to Nairobi I tried to get a litte sleep as we would be landing in Kenya at around 7am so would need to last a whole day...
Landed in Nairobi and changed our money. We were greeted with our in country agent and loaded our bags onto the bus, already surrounded by mosquitoes- brilliant, I'm definitely going to be eaten alive...
Our bus driver seems really friendly- definitely a sign of all Kenyans, it really seems to be such a welcoming country!
On our way to the campsite near Lake Naivasha the bus driver pulled into a viewpoint over looking some beautiful countryside- it was a real shame that due to the cloud we couldnt see any of it! Whilst there we were bombarded with salesmen trying to sell us small gifts and trinkets that they had made. A few of the boys bought (and may have been slightly ripped off) a few gifts for home, encouraging more and more sellers to our bus- time to carry onto the campsite I think!
Once at the campsite we set up our tents and made some dinner over the campsite bbq- cooking took a lot longer than expected at least there were some warm showers to keep morale up after 2 days of travel!
That evening whilst sat around the camp fire, two security guards who had come from Masai tribes came to fetch us to see two hippos who had come into the campsite from the lake... it was so exciting to hear their grunts- this is why we have come on our adventure to Africa!
