18k walk through Hell's Gate national park yesterday and climbed Mount Logonot today.
Through Hell's Gate we saw Giraffe, so many Zebras, warthogs (pumba), baboons and water buffalo all so so close. We had to climb down and through a gorge which was really beautiful. In the gorge we visited a hot spring and walked along the riverbed. Once out of the gorge, the views were amazing- I can't believe how lush and green Kenya is- not what I expected at all!
Day 4 we walked to the summit of Mount Logonot- it was quite steep but manageable, once at the top I thought I'd managed the climb and was celebrating reaching the top until James pointed out that we had climbed the volcano and actually we had to walk the circumference of the crater to reach the summit... Not the news I was most excited to hear...!
Finally made it to the summit of mount Logonot, which I'm ashamed to admit I struggled! At 3000m it wasn't amazingly high but I didn't cope with the altitude well! I am proud to say though, that after 6 years as a guide we were the fastest to climb and descend the volcano, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 2.30pm.
So glad to climb into my sleeping bag tonight!
