Got up very early as going on the Good Morning special train at 6 45am to the Jungfraujoch. Train took us (with Mel) up to the top of the mountain pretty much, 3751 metres. Pretty impressive. Scenery beautiful on the way up but have to confess to a little snooze. Got to the top and was bloody chilly. Was bundled up in layers as no coat. Christine would have found it hard! Went straight up to the Sphinx - the look out platform across the mountain top. Have never seen anything like it, mind blowing. Can't begin to explain it, a little nervous of the metal grate floor with sheer drop below but could see so far across the snow that it was worth it. Within 5 mins of being up there (quite long enough in the freezing weather!) a snow cloud came over and could barely see 2 metres in front of me. Went back inside complex and had a little look round there. Went to another outside area so could play in the snow (Mel's an aussie so never seen it) but couldn't see anything there either. Was quite scary really. Came back in and went to the Ice Palace, a man made place completly made of ice. Had small displays like eskimos and polar bears made from ice, very cool. Also could slide about like a fool so we did that for a while! Came out of there and went to the cafe for a little sit. Bought and sent some postcards to the family, very odd sending them from the top of a mountain. By this time the cloud had cleared and went out the the same snow bit as earlier, unbelievable difference, could see for miles. again an awesome sight, unforgettable. Took heaps of pics. Missed the husky dogs which was a shame but the view was worth every penny of the 60 quid train fare. Had a little play in the snow. I've never been in so much snow, kept going knee deep and ended up very soggy as only wearing trainers, better than some. We saw a few in socks and sandals. Found it very hard to breathe up there despite Mel being fine but think I'm just unfit. Went back in and sensible bunny i am brought spare socks so changed them, so much better. Got train halfway back down mountain. Got off and had a look around the village there. Mel was determined to get a photo of a cow with a bell round it's neck so we traipsed around trying to find them (not far to look!) felt exhausted on the train back again Mel passed out but i couldn't get enough of the scenery. Came back to Lauterbrunnen and looked at the shops and walked slowly back to the campsite. Got changed and got some dinner, take out chicken and chips, great grub. Was a folk festival on at the campsite so took a quick look but wasn't great so came back to shed. Pickled and went up to do teeth later and saw some guys playing giant cowbells, started walking into crowd towards us, very noisy and quite sinister sound so nipped into bathroom. Early to bed as exhausted.
