Got up and posted live 8 book, heavy! Boarded bus at 11 30 and met up with Adelena. Had long wait at Czech border, seem quite strict but got through eventually. Had interesting sights on crossing the border, 'ladies of the night' were on the side of the road in purpose built huts enticing the truck drivers in! Apparently they are usually on the road. Tops Amsterdam! Passed some beautiful scenery but weather awful today. Stopped at Tierzen - a fortress used in ww2 for a labour camp. went in and had guided tour. Fascinating place. still had original furniture and whole feel of the place was gloomy. Really helped with understanding of the suffering they went through. Showed the room of the Russian prisoners, had bunk bed structure that slept 100 people, barely room to lie down. Went through to the Jewish room and 60 people were kept in a room the size of Will's bedroom or my room at uni, must have been pressed up so tight. The air vent was the size of a letter box in the front of the room. Saw other rooms and machinery as well. Apparently a cinema, pool and shaving room was built for the Red Cross visit in 1942 - never used by the prisoners. Perhaps the most impacting place I've been. Really gained a view of what it must have been like. Left there and continued to Prague. Hotel good, staying in budget hotel in the complex but get to use all facilities of the 4 star hotel i.e. pool, gym, spa, beauty place, restaurants, bars, gift shops. Unfortunately so much to do in Prague don't think I'll have time. Got the buffet dinner at the hotel, ate loads of veg - so hard to get when travelling. Sat in the sports bar and chatted to various groups of Busabouters, was a good night.
