Megsy on the go...
Our last trip away together has arrived and we're in Switzerland for four days :(
Our flight was delayed by a half hour but we eventually got away. Meg's had a fight with her yogurt on the plane and we couldn't stop laughing for ages. The pressure obviously got the better of it and when she opened it went everywhere. She wasn't the only as there was splatters all over the back of the seats in front. We arrived around 11.30pm and Melissa decided the motel was only 800mm away so we would walk. Meg's was so not keen but dragged her heels and went along. We walked for ages and went down a few back alleys and under a huge motorway. We finally came to a big hotel and asked for directions but we needed a cab as it was still miles away and over the French border. But it didn't stop there, we then got there to find out we had to walk to the next motel to get our keys. We then walked back with an electronic code for the keypad and it didn't work so Melissa trotted back for another code. We eventually got in and went to bed in the early hours of the morning.
DAY 1
We got up very late and got the bus into the centre of Genvea. We spent the day walking around and buying souveniers. We checked out Lake Geneva on a boat cruise and then got some tea and headed back to the motel.
DAY 2
We got up early today and got a train to Bern which is the capital of Switzerland. The countryside was very beautiful and the sun was shinning all day. Bern is a great city with pretty old buildings. It was a day of looking at all the sites and realxing by the river with a few beers.
Again we headed back to Geneva.
DAY 3
Today we went on a tour to see a Glacier in the Swiss Alps and Gstaad. The weather turned horrible today with rain and cloud cover. The bus took us around Lake Genvea and to Lusanne. We then headed for the mountains where we took 2 cable cars to the the top. From there went on a open chair lift down to the glacier and nearly froze! It was only 2 degrees and snow/ice everywhere. We walked along for a while at the bottom getting soaked by sleet and it started to get heavier so we headed back to the warmth. We couldn't see too much but it was still worth the trek there. We jumped back on the bus and drove through lots of little towns and villiages with cute chalets everywhere and a few cows with bells! We stopped at Gstaad which is home of the Swiss Tennis Open. It's not much of a court and there's only one grandstand but it fits in with the towns size. We stopped at another town to taste some cheese and ended up buying some but it was yummy. We then headed back to Geneva.
DAY 4
We spent all day on little road trains touring Genvea. We then did some last minute shopping and got some chocies before heading to the airport. We got ripped off with our train tickets so we weren't happy Jan!! We didn't do much duty free shopping as it was very expensive.
We arrived back in London again and ended up having a few quiet Kaluha's to end the weekend.
