Today was fun but also sad.
This morning I spent a while at the hostel doing a few things on the computer and saying goodbye to people. I think I was really lucky to have met such nice people there and to have such a good time considering I only found the place the day before I got there. In the future I'd definitely like to go back to London.
But after I'd said all my goodbye's and got packed, I headed off to do the boat car tour. I was running just over an hour early so I went and did the tour of westminster abbey. You weren't allowed to take photos inside but it was really interesting, much more than I expected. I got an electronic talking tour guide which was really good. It explained a lot of the history of the building like how Kings and Queens had been corronated there since the 1600s I think. But other than the actual prayer / service area, there wereheaps of tombs of old Kings and English Nobility, and the electronic tour guide thing had some really interesting stuff about most of them. But I ended up having to rush the last bit of the tour to get to the boat car tour in time.
I just made it in time so I ended up getting a pretty crappy seat but it was still fun. It drove around the main things in London like Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, MI5 and MI6, Buckingham palace, even where the royal family get their hair cut. Driving in to the Thames was probably the highlight of it though, we went in right next to the MI6 building which made it feel very James Bond. It wasn't that exciting on the river though cause it only went at about 10km/h. But we spent about half an hour out there and basically just went up to Big Ben and back. It was pretty cool, and a good to be able to say I've done it.
After that I took the underground to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. I went to Tower Bridge and went and went and walked along the top which was really cool. I probably spent about half an hour up there. Then I went down to the enigine room of the tower which still operates for when big ships come underneath. They also had a video of how Robby Madison had jumped over the gap when it was raised and did a backflip over it.
But after that I went to the Tower of London but found out it was closed. So I ended up just going to a couple of souvenir shops around there and then catching the tube to King's Cross. I got there a couple of hours before my train back to Paris so I had some time to kill so I asked a couple of people if there was anything good to see in the area for a bit but they all said that there was absolutely nothing but I had a look around anyway and found out they were absolutely right. So ended up going to one of those conveyor belt Japanese restaurants at the train station which I actually haven't been to before, even in Japan. It was nice but by the time you get a dish, unless you order it seperately, it's cold.
Then I just went to the Eurostar platform and waited about an hour for the train. I think I definitely have to go back to London in the future because there's still heap more I want to see and do. Maybe I could go back for the Olympics or a Coldplay concert or something like that.
Anyway I got the train back to Paris and then 2 trains and a bus to get back to Anaëlle's and then snuck in the door at about 1am.
