Today I tried another couple of interesting french dishes. I finally tried snails which really don't have that much of taste and really don't taste bad, its just pulling the thing of its shell with this miniature pitchfork that's the weirdest part. I still ate the whole plate of about 10 for lunch but it was quite weird. They definitely needed the kind of pesto sauce that they had.
After lunch I worked on a couple of songs again and then drove up to the tallest hill in the region where a little town was to have a good look at the scenery of the countryside with Anaëlle and her mum. There was hardly anyone up there, I think we only saw about 5 people for the half an hour we were up there. It was really quiet except for the noise of cows mooing in the distance. It was very tempting to try and do a dog bark or something at them just to see if they reacted at all.
They then dropped me back while Anaëlle went to see her grandparents on her dad's side. So it was just me and Anaëlle's grandma and the cat home. I really wish I could speak french so I could speak with Anaëlle's grandma, because I feel like I could have some great conversations with her. But in the end we just sat around the kitchen table, while she read some magazines and I worked on the songs.
But for the last couple of evenings I've watched this french gameshow with her that's is kind of like a french version of 'sale of the century' even though I don't understand the questions. It still fun to watch though especially watching Anaëlle's grandma's reaction if she knows one and the contestants don't get it right.
Dinner tonight was a boiled egg, ham and pickles all stuck together in a gelatin ball. It was probably the weirdest tasting thing I've had here actually, very different to anything I've tried.
