I woke this morning at 5 am AGAIN!! Must be my new way of doing things! I made breakfast while fending off wild turkeys and ate breakfast while fending off wild turkeys! I went for a swim in the ocean, made a tea and then hit the road! I made my way into Byron Bay thinking I would explore in the quiet of the morning..... Not so much! There were even more people than the day before ..... Turns out there was a big surfers festival in town.... Perhaps that's why I went through a check stop on the way into town and had to do some kind of breathalyzer! I passed with flying colors! I ended up hiking up to the light house some amazing views but it was a hot and sweaty climb up.... Not sure why I didn't just drive up!! I could see all the way down to the beach I had swam at in the morning! I decided to carry on.... Found myself in Surfers Paradise which was also a crazed mass of people.... Turns out there was some kind of car race going on in the city streets..... I made my lunch and ate it on the beach then got out of there as fast as possible.....however.... Every street in the city was blocked and I went in circles and there was traffic like crazy and I finally made it out of there! I decided to bypass Brisbane as I am coming back there on Friday and wanted to go to the Steve Irwin Australia zoo! So I made my way to Beerwah where I know sit.....with a Jucy Crib with a broken fridge! I filled up on everything yesterday so all my food is now in the camp kitchen fridge until morning. Tonight I fended off huge ducks while cooking and eating supper! I was startled by about 20 of them barking and flapping and waddling by only to see the lady down the way feeding them bread!! Looks like I am going back to Brisbane in the morning. It is only an hour drive and they do not seem keen to help me over the phone so I will go right to then even though it is going to cost me in fuel I don't have time to be waiting around for them to call me! If I show up when they open at 10 I could made it back and see some of the zoo or just skip it and carry on up the coast..... Will see where the wind takes me!
