Leaving Liechtenstein I first tried the GPS to get us to southern France, our next destination, but this time I didn't like the look of where it was taking us.
So I looked at Maps on my phone and plotted a route through the southern parts of Switzerland, it looked windy and interesting, and it was, but as it worked out, we had taken this route before and we went over some familiar passes, Oberalppass (2046m) and Furkapass (2436m), both brilliant passes with fantastic roads and views.
Again we hadn't picked a place to stop for the night, so as the afternoon was coming to a close, we started looking for a campground. We found a nice little place in Reckingen, a lovely typical old Swiss village.
Here we found old timber buildings dating back to the 1600s, we also got an answer to the question of buildings with stones between the bottom and top parts of the buildings (see photos). As we had suspected, they are designed to keep our vermin. The upper part of the building is for storage of grain or hay, so they needed a way of stopping pests getting into the feed.
We only stayed here for the night, but spent some time looking around this lovely village.
In the morning we were pushing on to France, to a campground near a place called Crest.
