It's been a wet few days in Fez, but that hasn't stopped us doing lots! It's a really cool medina here with over 9000 little alleys, very hard not to get lost!

On Sunday we headed off to Volubilis an ancient Roman city, which had some amazing mosaics and crumbling ruins surrounded by fertile farmland. We then headed up for a view over the important pilgrimage sight of Moulay Idriss, a picturesque village atop two hills and the resting place of it's namesake, the first king of Morocco, who brought Islam here.

It was then on to Meknes which hosts many old sights of Moulay Ishmail's reign. We checked a few of these out, but were a bit worn out by this stage. However we had a crazy guide take us around the old stables, which was interesting.

Yesterday we had a guide take us around Fez, a really great city. We visited the old Jewish Quarter and royal palace that had fabulous bronze gates and headed up a hill to get an aerial view of the city, where it was very windy. We then visited a pottery maker which was interesting and the tannery where the leather goods are made, which stunk! After making a few purchases at shops it was lunchtime. Very full we visited the oldest university in the world and the enormous mosque next to it before once again being treated to a carpet seller trying to get us to buy to no success! It was then back to our Riad for a final relaxing night in Morocco.
