I won't bore you with the day I just received, this will be a brief one.
Deciding that we were a little strapped for time in the South Island we decided to skip the somewhat boring town of Christchurch (having already spent a day there after our flight) and take the hit of driving to Nelson in one day.
The drive was set to be a seven/eight hour one until we were told by a retired primary school teacher at our camp that we just HAD to go through Arthur's Pass as it was 'stunning'.
It wasn't, it was just green, really winding and added a further two hours to our drive. I wouldn't recommend it.
Eventually, we got out of the car at Richmond as we were drawn to the neon lights of a Domino's takeaway like moths. With a full stomach and a bum with regained 'toosh factor' I ended the trip in relatively high spirits and was even happier when I found that Nelson was one of the few places that welcomed freedom camping and provided two big car parks with toilets and sinks for just such a purpose.
Roll on tomorrow!
