Well what and interesting few days, just when you think that you have seen something fantastic and amazing you go round the corner and there is something else truely amazing!!!
We left Port Augusta bright and early yesterday and headed for Coober Pedy and this was a big drive.
first stop was a roadside stop where you could see the Flinders Ranges well this was breath taking and it will be the subject of another great trip in the Rig. then we hit the road and headed for Woomera we stopped at Pimba which is only a few K's from Woomera but i am glad we stopped it was a very interesting stop full of charater.
Woomera was again very interesting and the boys enjoyed the museam and it is well worth the stop. but we did spead a bit longer than expected as Callum was a bit sick he is all better now and in fine form.
Then we headed off, needed to get some k's under the belt, if we were going to get to the Pedy in time. We stopped for lunch at a roadside stop near Lake Hart and this was very interesting trying to get the roll in the gob before the flies made it in Yes i did have to shut up for a while. the Lake had water in it and some backpackers were having a bit of a swim. From what i can gather water in the lake might be rare.
The trip was differant than expected as i thought that all you would see would be flat boring landscape but it was far from that. They have had a fare bit of rain up this way and in many places it was outback green with grasses along the roadside and trees and bushes looking lush (as lush as they can be). There was even water on the road as we came into Coober Pedy!!!!!!
Coober pedy is a facinating place with lots to see we went to see a opal mine and James and I had the experience of a lifetime as we went to see baby kangaroos being feed and even got to hold them (watch out Barney i want one). they were so cute !!! James was amazed and totally besotted with them.
Back to the start of this story I think the most amazing thing today was the drive out to the Dog fence and the Breakaways how beautiful and amazing can a place be around every corner it just got better and better wow it is a must stop and see. Oh as the van was off it was my turn to drive humm nearly crashed as I didn't realise the road was going to gravel even with Steve saying slow down (humm isn't that what I am supposed to say) then there was the SNAKE you all know how much I hate them and there was a great big brown one on the road!!! I did resist the urge to put my feet on the dash board and scream and swerved to miss the sucker as we all know that if you run over them they get in the car a bite you (note my irrational fear) so for the reat of the day I have been opening the door and looking before I put my feet down. Dam snakes!!!
Quote of the trip is James looking at a saltbush (after just having mum read the sign about them) saying " oh is that a sugar bush!!!!" no James taste it it is saltbush!!!!
Well better go seeya soon
