Hello Everyone,
Hope your are all well! We are basking in sunshine in Puerto Iguazu in Argentina today before we cross the border to Brasil tomorrow! Very early Monday morning we left Salta and endured a 12 hour truck journey. Monday night we camped out the back of a petrol station in the middle of no where which was very interesting. Very early Tuesday morning we left our petrol station and made our way to Puerto Iguazu. On route we stopped at San Ignacio Mini for lunch and Rachel and I took the opportunity to go and look at some Jesuit Ruins which were stunning! There were many street kids in San Ignacio Mini so we gave them all the leftovers from our truck lunch and played a spot of footie with them. They were most grateful to receive empty plastic coca cola bottles to play with.
We arrived at our campsite in Puerto Iguazu late afternoon. This is definately one of the best campsites we have been to yet! It has 3 swimming pools and they all have water in them. The washing facilities are also very adequate and has hot water! As soon as we arrived the whole group got changed into their swimming gear and we went for a quick dip in the pool before it got dark, the water was very refreshing!
Gayle was on cook duty Tuesday evening with Lucy and Tim and made a feast of burgers, potato wedges and salad! It seemed to go down well with the group! Rachel is on cook duty tonight and we are looking forward to a feast of lasagne and garlic bread! YUM!
On Wednesday the whole group went to see the Iguazu Falls which were absolutely spectacular, our photos dont do the falls any justice at all! Denise I hope you are finding our pics useful with your Primary One class with their Rainforrest Project, networking and cross curricular all the way from South America! ! We started by walking along a trail that took us above the falls and saw lots of wild life along the way, including birds and lizards! We stopped for an ice cream break before jumping on the boat at the bottom of the falls. We passed the spot where the Timoti hair shapoo advert was filmed and Gayle attempted a reinactment as you can see in our pictures!
The Zodiac boat was an amazing experience as it took you right up close to the bottom of the falls and we got absolutely soaked! After the boat ride we went on a jungle treck on a jeep where you were meant to see lots of wildlife like monkeys, tucans and jaguars but we only saw one bird unfortunately!
After lunch we took a train to the top of the falls where we walked along to view the section of the falls called the Devils Throat! By this point the weather had taken a turn for the worse and there was heavy rain with thunder and lightening as you can probably tell from our pictures as we look like drowned rats in the pictures at the end! The Devils Throat was breath taking and we had tears in our eyes! It was an amazing day!
Today we have a free day in Puerto Iguazu, our last day in Argentina. At the moment we are just spending some time uploading our pictures onto the blog so you can continue following our adventures! We plan to laze by the pool in the scorching sunshine later, we hear you have snow on the way, nae luck! Tomorrow we cross the border into Brasil and have the option to view the Iguazu Falls from the Brasilian side. On Saturday we have a long drive to look forward to which will take us to Bonito and the Pantanal next week!
Hope you are all well!
PS: Message for Gayles Dad, Andy says he will easily help set up internet when the package comes in. Hope you are having fun at work in Kzachastan (excuse spelling).
